NEW YEAR
Sorry All, I have not been able to blog. This year has seems to move fast! There are so many things to blog about.
I was in Arusha last week so I missed the Judiciary Open day. Good idea. I will post about this later.
The Arusha case went well. It is likely that the case will be dismissed. I think the court realized the dispute was in essence a NARC dispute where the constituent parties. The parties could not agree on the nominees to the East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) hence two different lists were submitted to the National Assembly whose duty it is to elect members of EALA. Should the court allow the application, I think there will be no end in the cases they will receive challenging election to EALA. It is worth noting that the the Ugandan Rules are similar to those of the Kenyan one.
On a happier note the Court of Appeal released my colleague and former pupil who had been commintted to jail by Ho. Justice Mugo. The judge was not amused that the advocate, appearing before her on a different matter, had applied for a stay of her earlier committal order in the Court of Appeal.
